Clinical Applications / Intended Use:
Flexible Periotomes are used as a knife to sever. The periodontal ligament protects the surrounding bone and soft tissue. As the periotome is inserted into the periodontal ligament, the tip of the periotome flexes and adapts to the shape of the root surface. This allows the periotome to separate the fibrous tissue of the PDL cleanly, ensuring an atraumatic extraction. Flexible periotomes can be used by hand or in conjunction with a mallet to achieve optimal results.
